Thirty doctors, eight physician assistants, four dentists, four chiropractors, and four optometrists practice in the county.

Nursing and custodial care are provided by Belleview Rest Home, Shady Rest Home, Taylorsville House, and Valley Nursing Center. Additionally, the County Health Department and Foothills Mental Health provide health services.

Family Care Center is a group practice of six family practice board certified physicians and three certified physician assistants. Their new state of the art medical office opened its doors in March 1999 offering high quality medical care to residents of Alexander County. Patients are seen by appointment only during regular office hours of Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 – 11:00 am.

Taylorsville is home to one of six Carolina Orthopedic Specialists offices. They offer many specialized services for hand, spine, and joint injuries, as well sports medicine, X-ray, MRI, and Physical Therapy services.

Family Medicine Associates is a general family medical practice offering quality medical care to Alexander County residents. Their practice consists of one certified physician and two certified physician assistants. They conduct weekly office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Bethlehem Family Practice is a general family medical practice of 2 physicians and a physician's assistant located in the Bethelehem community.
